Herringer Kiss Gallery Artist, Sara Robichaud has been included in a new show opening tonight at the Art Gallery of Calgary. Titled, “Where the Heart Is”, the exhibition examines concepts of domesticity.

Chief Curator at the AGC, Kayleigh Hall, writes; Sara Robichaud is an artist based in Nanaimo, BC who integrates symbols of domesticity in abstract painting and performance. Themes of motherhood, birth and death are read through luminous colour and the combination of biomorphic and hard-edge forms. Robichaud earned her MFA from the University of Victoria (2009) after receiving her BFA from Queen’s University (1999). She is represented by Ruth Bachofner Gallery in Santa Monica, CA, Trench Contemporary Art in Vancouver, and Herringer Kiss Gallery in Calgary.

As part of the opening reception tonight, Sara Robichaud will do a performance piece that deals with the concept of balance between being a professional artist and a mother.

Friday, September 6th at 8:00 pm at the Art Gallery of Calgary. 117 – 8 AVENUE S.W.
